Great Killough farm at Llantilio Grossenny has just installed a 38kW solar photovoltaic (PV) system to take advantage of the sun in powering its business.

Installed by Caplor Energy, the 200 panel solar photovoltaic (PV) system will generate nearly 32,000 units of electricity each year. Not only will this be enough to power the agricultural business and export excess energy to the National Grid, the system will save just under 18 tonnes of CO2 per year.

Under the current feed-in tariff scheme, the company will benefit from approximately £13,000 over the 25 years. With a payback rate of eight years, the system proves a positive return on investment with the advantage of lower energy bills.
