Cwmbran-based Ikaros Solar has signed a contract to install 150kW of solar photovoltaics for a poultry farmer near Ashbourne in Derbyshire. Installed over three sites, the solar panels will provide renewable energy for Overbrook Farms’ specialist requirements.
Owner Dave Allsop, who rears chickens and is a major supplier to Moy Park said, "I wanted a system that offered high yield and long-term reliability at a fixed price.”
Mike Carter, Ikaros Solar's Commercial Director said, "Mr Allsop came to us with a pretty unique set of demands which required experts who could not only install PV facility, but also ensure that it fitted around his existing systems and structural requirements.”
"We have staff who are used to handling bespoke projects. Coming up with solutions that meet many different engineering challenges is our day-to-day business. This project has really tested our expertise - but we have come up with an ideal solution that fits in with all of Mr Allsop's needs," Carter concluded.
Ikaros will utilise Suntech solar panels alongside SMA inverters for the project, which is due to be completed by mid October.
