Abakus solar AG has added the 2.8MW Trenouth solar park in Cornwall to its operation and maintenance (O&M) service portfolio in the UK.

The Cornish solar farm was connected to the grid in 2011 and is owned by renewable energy investor, Low Carbon.

The 2.8MW solar farm is the first park under the company’s O&M management portfolio that hasn’t been built by the abakus solar AG. Stefan Rentmeister, head of O&M at abakus solar AG said that the expansion of its O&M portfolio showed that the company “understand the contractual requirements” of its solar clients.

He added: “Due to the volume of more than 100MWp under O&M management in the UK and abroad we are able to provide a competitive pricing to the market.”

Abakus claims to have a “solid” local setup in the UK which includes management and experienced service technicians. But the company is hoping to expand further into the UK market, which has just broken all previous records and installed 2.53GW of new PV capacity in Q1 2015.

Thomas Fuss, head of sales at abakus solar AG added: “We will expand our presence in the UK further and are looking forward to convince institutional investors with our services, pricing and solution-driven mentality.”

In particular, Fuss said that the company was targeting “projects that are coming out of the two year defects notification period this year”. According to Fuss, these projects “need special handling from an investment and cost point of view”.
