BayWa r.e. has landed a two-year O&M deal with engineering, procurement and construction firm Metka EGN.

And the German renewables developer said the contract represented the first step towards a “multi-level cooperation” between the two firms.

BayWa r.e. is to operate and maintain two, 5MW solar farms for Metka based in Exeter and Swansea. The contract came into effect at the start of the year but has only today been disclosed.

Ian Draisey, managing director at BayWa r.e. Operation Services, said: “With our own global experience and presence, the two businesses fit perfectly together and this cooperation is another important element of our growth ambitions in the UK service market.”

Lefteris Pliakos, managing director at Metka EGN, said the company was now looking forward to working with BayWa r.e. on future projects both in the UK and elsewhere.

The contract win takes BayWa r.e.’s UK-based wind and solar management portfolio to 965MW.
