UK charity, British Red Cross has expanded two UK solar installations.
The charity has installed solar on three properties previously, and decided to extend two solar installations in London.
The two projects extended are located in Mitcham and Enfield. The extensions total 80kW and will generate an extra 63,279kWh a year.
The installations used 315 of European manufacturer, Voltec Solar’s 250Wp PV modules, distributed by UK company, Wagner Renewables and installed by SquareDeal Limited.
Richard Dickens, environmental and carbon reduction officer, British Red Cross, said the solar installation helps with reducing the charity’s emissions, and helps make the most of the charity’s money. “This is a long term investment for the charity” said Dickens.
The money gained from selling solar energy is then re-invested in the charity’s work caring for vulnerable people, often people displaced by climate change and affected by natural disasters and extreme weather events.
Dickens said the British Red Cross take climate change very seriously given the charity’s work with climate change refugees.
Voltec hopes this project is the first of many in the UK. “This is another great step forward in our presence in Great Britain and we look forward to working with the British Red Cross on further projects” said Markus Schaefer, co-founder Voltec Solar.
