Glastonbury-based solar developer, British Solar Renewables (BSR) has begun construction of a 7.65MW solar farm near Truro in Cornwall.

The project received planning permission back in April 2013 but has received forward funding from Ingenious Clean Energy. The 7.65MW solar project is expected to generate enough electricity from its 29,436 modules to power 2,630 local homes.

Angus Macdonald, managing director of BSR, commented: “We are delighted to be building on our relationship with Ingenious by embarking on our fifth solar park within a year. We look forward to delivering the plant using our fully integrated internal construction team.”

Jonathan Dunn, fund manager at Ingenious Clean Energy, added: “We are pleased to further grow our relationship with BSR through the acquisition of another solar park from a team with an excellent track record of delivering high quality assets.”

BSR will construct and maintain the 13-hectare solar site for the project’s lifetime, monitoring its performance through its O&M team. British manufacturer Corbin Industries will provide all of the under construction for the project and BSR’s subsidiary Renewable Energy Connections will provide the grid connection in conjunction with Western Power Distribution.
