British Solar Renewables has revealed that is has started construction of an 8.7MW solar farm in Dorset.
The project builds on the developer’s relationship with Ingenious Clean Energy which is forward funding the development at Canada Farm near Winterborne, Stickland.
The solar farm will sit across 14 hectares of land on the mixed livestock and arable farm. British Solar Renewables stated that sheep will be allowed to graze the site to encourage both agriculture and biodiversity.
Commenting on the project, Angus Macdonald, the company’s managing director said: “We are delighted to be building on our relationship with Ingenious by embarking on our fourth solar park within a year. We look forward to delivering the plant using our fully integrated internal team.”
The site will use steel fabrication provided by Corbin Industries, while grid connection will be handled by British Solar Renewables’ subsidy, Renewable Energy Connections in conjunction with the local DNO, Scottish & Southern Electricity.
British Solar Renewables is one of the largest developers of solar farms in the UK, connecting over 100MW of ground-mount ahead of the 1.6ROC deadline in April this year.
