The Low Carbon Contracts Company has released a revised Contracts for Difference (CfD) timeline which will see the bid process accelerated.

The CfD implementation coordinator confirmed that the sealed bid window has been brought forward from 18 February to 29 January, with the window now closing on 4 February instead of 24 February.

The delivery body notes that it can accelerate the timeline because Ofgem managed to settle CfD eligibility disputes two weeks faster than it predicted.

The move follows concerns expressed by various companies involved in the CfD about the appeal process. Matt Hancock recently defended the scheme’s appeal process but hinted that the government is considering tweaking it to ensure that the default position of companies turned away is not to appeal straight away.

Under the revised CfD timeline, successful applicants will now be notified on 26 February at the earliest.
