Solar giant Conergy has selected a UK solar farm as the first of its projects to receive Sungrow inverters after the two firms signed a strategic partnership.

Conergy has picked Sungrow to supply inverters for its commercial and utility-scale solar projects across the world and the first project to benefit from the partnership will be a 5MW ground-mount solar farm in the UK, which will be fitted with Sungrow SG60KTL inverter units.

Sungrow was selected ahead of various other candidates following a “rigorous evaluation process”. Oliver Schweininger, VP for global purchasing and supply chain at Conergy, said the deal would help the firm ensure its sustainability.

“Sungrow meets our criteria with regard to quality, global customer service, and product diversity to support our global growth in all major PV market segments,” he said.

Conergy revealed last month that it installed 105MW of solar capacity in the UK in Q1, adding to a nation-wide total estimated to be as large as 3GW.
