The designers of Styrofoam insulation, Dow Building Solutions, are now set to launch Xenergy SL at Ecobuild 2012. The new product, made from extruded polystyrene (XPS) has been specifically developed for insulating inverter flat roofs.
With the upcoming Green Deal and new energy efficiency requirements under the solar feed-in tariff, the need for improved insulation will become more important as 2012 gets further under way.
Xenergy XPS combines some of the features of Styrofoam XPS, including its durability, reliability and strength, while also improving insulation performance with the addition of infra-red blocking particles to scatter and reflect heat radiation within the foam board.
The product comes in steel grey and is available in single extruded thicknesses of 100, 120, 140 and 160mm. 4mW thermal conductivity gains are possible at 140mm and 160mm thicknesses, which is an 11 percent improved insulation performance compared with Roofmate SL-A.

“As we make further improvements to the thermal conductivity of our products building designers have even more potential to reduce the thicknesses required, which is key in roofing applications.
“The great thing about Xenergy is that it delivers those improvements without compromising on the key attributes of XPS such as high compressive strength, low water absorption and excellent freeze/thaw performance,” he concluded.
