Solar installer EvoEnergy has landed a contract to fit a 3.8MW rooftop PV installation, a project which it claims will be one of the five largest rooftop arrays in the country.
Workplace supplies provider Lyreco selected EvoEnergy to carry out the installation at its Telford distribution centre as part of efforts to help offset its environmental impact. It is expected to generate in excess of 3.2MWh per year, creating annual cost savings of around £53,000 for Lyreco.
EvoEnergy will now fit more than 13,000 275W Trina Solar panels to the roof of the distribution centre as well as two 1.65MW ABB central inverters in what the company claims is the first time technology previously reserved for ground-mount installations has been used on a rooftop.

The installation will be owned and operated by Addison Energy Limited which is in turn funded by Guinness Asset Management’s Enterprise Investment Scheme, and Lyreco has signed a 20-year power purchase agreement with Addison to cover the installation’s expected lifetime.

Work on the project is expected to start imminently and complete in October.
