With the full launch of the Green Deal rapidly approaching, the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) has announced that the list of eligible measures under the Green Deal has been expanded from 30 to 45.
The new additions have been included in the scheme after a DECC consultation. The final draft of the PAS 2030 specification for installation process, process management and service provision is due to published in January.
Below is a list of the new measures which will be eligible under the Green Deal:
- Chillers
- Duct Insulation
- HVAC Controls
- Hot Water Showers
- Hot Water Systems
- Hot Water Taps
- Roof Lights, Lamps and Luminaires
- Radiant Heating
- Sealing improvements
- Solar blinds, shutters and shading devices
- Transpired Solar Collectors
- Variable speed drives for fans and pumps
- Water Source Heat Pumps
At the recent launch of the National Solar Centre, Energy and Climate Minister Greg Barker urged the solar industry to operate outside its silo and “use the Green deal to market solar PV as an energy saving option”.
As the coalition government’s flagship energy policy, the Green Deal is due to be supported heavily over the coming weeks, with the launch of the Green Deal cashback scheme, a £2.9 million marketing budget and the Prime Minister’s own focus. However, critics of the scheme remain sceptical that the Green Deal model will persuade the British public to engage with energy efficiency.
