Fresh round of collective solar purchasing schemes planned for September

A fresh round of collective solar purchasing schemes is to launch across the UK this September, this time hoping to incorporate domestic storage. 

iChoosr, which held a number of successful ‘Solar Together’ schemes in London and the South East last year, is expanding its reach and similar schemes are earmarked to be held in the North, East and South of England.

Further details are to be available next month, however iChoosr has confirmed that this year’s collective purchasing schemes will offer customers the option to include battery storage for the first time. 

Solar installers are again being encouraged to register their interest in tendering to participate in the schemes. Companies have until 16 August to register their interest via iChoosr’s online platform, however only MCS and RECC/HIES certified installers with sufficient capacity to deliver high volumes of domestic installations need apply. 

Last year’s pilot schemes, which were contracted to Solarcentury amongst others, resulted in around 2,000 small-scale solar installations. 

Marie Louise Abretti, solar business manager at iChoosr, said that there was still an appetite for domestic solar installations despite the closure of the feed-in tariff. 

“At a time when national and local government is firming the stance on carbon reduction, the Solar Together schemes are very topical. We'll be announcing more news about this Autumn’s scheme in the coming weeks. And we have more schemes planned for 2020 to further support the UK solar market by delivering much needed customers to the installer community,” she said.
