Olney-based electrical and civil engineers, g2 Energy, has revealed that it successfully connected 217MW worth of solar farms to the grid before the Renewable Obligation rate dropped in April.
The company claims that it successfully connected 25 renewable energy projects in the first three months of 2014, 20 of which were large-scale ground-mounted solar farms.
According to g2 Energy, the latest round of projects connected before the April ROC deadline represent the third year in the row that the company achieved a 100% record of completing all contracted renewable energy projects within the desired timescale.
The company noted that the latest round of solar farm connections faced a number of challenges, not least unprecedented weather challenges since January. The company’s warehouse facility in Milton Keynes managed to build 30 containerised substations since January – a fact that g2 Energy credits as a major advantage in expediting connections.
G2 Energy is also reporting a strong project pipeline of projects under 1.4ROCs, with 19 large-scale solar farms currently under progress.
