Renewable energy supplier Good Energy has commissioned two new solar farms and announced a further drawdown from its debt facility to refinance an existing project.

In a statement to the market today, the AIM-listed utility confirmed that it has commissioned 5MW solar farms at Lower End in Wiltshire and Crossroads in Dorset. Upon completion, the two projects will take the number of solar farms Good Energy has built and operates to six with a total capacity of 30MW.

Good Energy chief executive Juliet Davenport OBE said the additions to the firm’s portfolio demonstrated its “continued commitment” to renewable energy generation.

“The new solar farms will make an important contribution towards their county’s renewable energy targets, and will also deliver benefits to local people local in the form of community funds and bespoke biodiversity plans,” she added.

Good Energy also announced that it has taken a further £4.1 million from its debt facility in order to provide long-term funding for the Lower End solar farm just a month after it made a similar withdrawal in order to help secure its 8MW Carloggas solar farm.
