Gresham House’s British Strategic Investment Fund (BSIF) is expanding its investment team with a new hire.

Peter Bachmann joined Ben Guest and Ed Simpson as a fund manager earlier this month. Bachmann and Simpson are to be responsible for driving day-to-day BSIF operations and Guest is to oversee the strategy.

Bachmann has almost two decades of experience in public and private equity investment and joins Gresham from European venture capital firm Scottish Equity Partners, where he managed the Environmental Capital Fund.

Prior to this, Bachmann co-founded investor and developer of renewable energy and waste-to-energy assets, the Environmental Infrastructure Development Company.

Gresham House’s BSIF has already made several investments in renewable energy, vertical farming, waste recycling and key worker accommodation.

It aims to invest in sustainable UK infrastructure and housing, focusing on smaller mid-market investments in local and regional projects.

“Gresham’s commitment to responsible investment and building a market leading platform in sustainability infrastructure investment makes this an exciting time to be joining BSIF,” Bachmann said.

Tony Dalwood, CEO of Gresham House and BSIF Investment Committee member, said Bachmann “exemplifies the ambition” of the BSIF, adding he will help it support “strategically important assets for the UK at a time when investment in infrastructure is greatly needed”.

Earlier today Gresham House Energy Storage Fund announced the acquisition of a 41MW energy storage asset, paying out £20.1 million to Arenko for the asset.
