Lord Prior of Brampton has replaced Baroness Neville-Rolfe at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy after she moved department to become the new Treasury minister.

A statement issued this morning confirmed a ministerial reshuffle with Lord Prior stepping in to the void left by Neville-Rolfe’s departure, joining from the Department of Health.

It is however unclear whether the move will be a straight swap and a BEIS spokesperson informed Solar Power Portal that new ministerial portfolios will be confirmed in due course.

Neville-Rolfe departs after just five months in the role having joined the new department in July.

Energy ministers have tended not to stay long in the role and Lord Prior will become the sixth such minister in as many years following Charles Hendry, John Hayes, Michael Fallon, Matthew Hancock, Andrea Leadsom and the previous incumbent.

Lord Prior has a diverse working background having held positions in various engineering and manufacturing firms including British Steel, finance houses Lehman Brothers and Lazard Freres, as well as roles in the NHS.
