Portuguese solar developer Martifer Solar has sold the project rights for a 4.27MW solar farm development in Exeter to Zurich-headquartered solar company, Smartenergy Renewables AG.

Martifer Solar fully developed the 4.27MW site and, under the agreement, will complete the EPC and subsequent O&M services.

The solar farm at Francis Court is expected to be completed in February 2015 and will produce an estimated 4,169MWh per annum. Martifer Solar predicts that the solar farm will negate the emission of 1,907 tonnes of CO2 every year.

“This achievement for the Francis Court project drives forward our experience and successful track record as an established developer in the UK. Our team has built and developed a strong portfolio of more than 100MW of PV projects to suit both the ROC and CfD schemes,” commented João Cunha, director of Martifer Solar UK.

The solar farm will boast 14,364 Smartenergy Renewables modules. Horst Hadi Mahmoudi, chairman and CEO of Smartenergy Renewables AG added: “We rely on partners with strong, proven capabilities and experience in the market, such as Martifer Solar, in order to leverage and apply our smart business model and maximise yields for our investors.”

Martifer Solar added that it is working on a number of UK projects, including the recent successful planning application for an 8MW project in the South of Wales.
