Freetricity has just announced a new free solar scheme aimed at businesses, charities and community groups.

Founders Paul Williams and Ben Way follow on from the success of their residential scheme which gave a total of 1,200 residents per selected county the opportunity to have solar panels installed and maintained absolutely free of charge.

The latest ‘green’ venture will allow organisations to benefit from free electricity without having to make a capital investment.

CEO of Freetricity, Paul Williams said: “We are able to offer grants of up to £120,000 per building to building owners across England and Wales until the funding is exhausted. We are continuing to run our successful residential scheme for homeowners but are now able to expand the offer out to businesses, charities and community groups.

“Going green for free will be especially attractive to those who are interested in reducing their carbon footprint but concerned about the cost of doing so. We hope that this deal will allow them to see that solar is a genuinely viable alternative to traditional energy sources.”

Launching installation of the systems is Anesco, using SMA inverters. Panels will be a selection of tier 1 including Yingli, Canadian Solar, Mitsubishi, Q cells, Dimplex; depending on the roof criteria and installation design.

Solar panels will be offered on a first-come first-served basis; interested organisations can register at the Freetricity website.
