Quintas Energy (QE) is the leading independent Asset Manager in the UK solar market. A vacancy has arisen for the role of head of asset management (UK) based in our office in Canary Wharf, London with a gross annual salary of £110,000 plus.

The principal goal of the head of asset management (HoAM) is to ensure that through better supervision, analysis and management, Quintas Energy can increase the value of its clients’ assets. The HoAM will operate in a data rich environment supported by the leading backoffice team in the solar energy sector which carries out all standard processes and procedures.

In close coordination with clients, the HoAM will ensure that correct effective action is taken wherever possible to protect and enhance value whenever issues or opportunities arise.

Qualifications and experience

You will have a university degree in Industrial or Electrical Engineering with 7+ years of relevant professional experience and at least 3 years of demonstrable specific experience in the design, development, permitting, construction, grid connection, security, operation and management of solar farms in the UK. Knowledge of other forms of renewable energy as well as fluency in European languages would be an advantage though not essential.

You will be a confident negotiator capable of interpreting plant and contractor performance to identify issues and resolve them effectively. You will have proven commercial skills with a track record of success in dealing with the suite of major contracts on which a solar farm depends including PPAs, insurance, land leases, grid connection, security, EPC and O&M contracts as well as their related warranties, guarantees, bonds and remedies.

As HoAM, you can count on a 60+ team of experienced solar energy professionals operating in a structured but agile manner, capable of carrying out all standard processes autonomously under the supervision of their respective heads of department, i.e. engineering, finance and legal.

Although you will formally be part of the engineering team, you will bring your executive and leadership experience to bear by identifying and prioritising key issues and opportunities, including those of a legal and financial nature, in an action plan for discussion with asset owners that you will execute.

A good working knowledge of Financial Reports and Financial Models is essential though no formal accounting qualification is required.

Leadership

It is the responsibility of the heads of department and the group head of operations to supervise the preparation and delivery to Quintas Energy’s clients of asset management services and reports. They will also ensure that staffing, resources, recruitment, training and procedures are all in place to deal with the demanding Service Level Standards our clients expect of us.

To your colleagues in QE, you will provide thought leadership with a clear awareness of best practices in all aspects of UK solar farming, new trends or issues that affect the market and a commitment to constant, measurable improvement in our service in coordination with the heads of department.

For clients, you will ensure that they derive the maximum benefit possible from QE reporting, management and recommendations.

Day to day work will be in the analysis of the performance data from the engineers, the review of all new incidents and actions that are reported by the backoffice and management team as well as review of site visit reports. You will be aware of all key contractual events across your portfolios and especially in the case of breach, expiry or underperformance, have clear proposals for the optimum action to take in coordination with the management team.

Salary and incentives

Gross annual salary will be £110,000 or more depending on qualifications and experience. The HoAM position includes an additional annual bonus based on quality and performance, pension plan and other benefits.
