The Renewable Energy Association (REA) has published a 10-point action plan for the UK government which could put solar on the path away from direct subsidy.

Speaking at the launch of UK solar beyond subsidy: the transition, a joint report from the REA and KPMG, Dr Nina Skorupska explained why the association felt these 10 points were necessary.

As part of its action plan, the association is pushing for  “a speedy review” of the UK's grid infrastructure “to see whether the grid can take additional renewable capacity without reinforcement.” The REA is critical of the current “piecemeal” approach to grid reinforcement which has “severely restricted the growth of solar”.
