The government is contemplating cutting the feed-in tariff rate for solar PV by as much as half, according to an article published in The Sunday Times.

The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) confirmed that it was considering implementing “further cost-control measures relating to the feed-in tariff scheme” back in July, but failed to provide a timeline for any announcements. However, DECC has recently closed an initial consultation which proposed to remove pre-accreditation and pre-registration from the feed-in tariff scheme.

The upcoming feed-in tariff announcement will form part of the government's wider review of spending under the Levy Control Framework.
