Last month, Solar Power Portal revealed the shortlists for this year’s Solar Power Portal and Clean Energy Awards, sponsored by Trina Solar.

More than 60 projects have been shortlisted across 12 categories ahead of what promises to be a glittering occasion at Birmingham NEC’s Hilton Metropole, hosted by stand-up comedian Jimmy Carr.

In the latest article of a series of shortlist spotlight features, here are the nominees for 2016’s Residential Energy Management award.

  • Sunamp – Eastheat
  • Nottingham Energy Partnership – Sungain Battery Bank
  • The Phoenix Works – Rusholme Project
  • Energy Projects Plus – Cheshire Battery Storage
  • Joju Solar – 240 Sandridge Road

Joju’s install comprised a 4.6kWp solar installation installed on a residential family home in St Albans. It combines high efficiency Sunpower panels – black framed, mono crystalline panels to match the house’s dark, slate roof – with a 6.4kWh Tesla Power Wall battery.

Other technologies installed include LED lighting, loft insulation, solar thermal technologies and hea heating management tool. Since the installation of the solar panels the customer, Glenn Tweedie, has only imported 15% of his electricity requirements from the grid since, and both his children have become highly engaged in monitoring energy consumption.

Glenn has been inspired by the system to purchase an electric car so the solar will be able to contribute to powering the car in the future.

The winner of this year’s Clean Energy Product Innovation award will be announced at the awards ceremony on 5 October. Tickets are now available and can be purchased online here, or by contacting [email protected].
