Nominations for 2015’s Solar Power Portal Awards are currently open. Returning for its third year, the Solar Power Portal Awards will take place on 13 October, the first evening of the sixth Solar Energy UK exhibition in Birmingham.

In the run up to the 29 June nominations deadline, Solar Power Portal is taking a closer look at each of this year’s categories.

Next Energy News integrated renewables system

Solar PV is a technology that can no longer be viewed in isolation. Escalating energy bills and increased public demand for energy reduction methods have seen solar installers shift away from specialised practitioners to become energy experts. The Next Energy News integrated renewables system celebrates this transition.

Awarded to the best low carbon energy project, entries should incorporate multiple low carbon technologies including decentralised generation, energy efficiency measures, storage, EV infrastructure etc. Ideally entries will combine multiple technologies.

Any size or application of low carbon technologies will be considered for the award by the judges. What we’re looking for is an appropriate mix of technologies that showcases the flexibility and enormous potential of low carbon generation.
