Nominations for this year’s Solar Power Portal Awards, sponsored by Trina Solar, are currently open. Returning for its fourth consecutive year, the Solar Power Portal Awards will take place on 5 October during the Clean Energy Live exhibition at Birmingham’s NEC.

This year’s ceremony, sponsored by Trina Solar, will be co-located with the inaugural Clean Energy Awards, and no fewer than 19 trophies will be handed out during an evening hosted by stand-up comedian Jimmy Carr.

In the run up to the 30 June nominations deadline, Solar Power Portal is taking a closer look at each of this year’s categories.

Residential Solar PV

The domestic residential market has been significantly beset, if not undermined, by the government’s feed-in tariff reset and deployment is now some 80% lower than what they were last year. But while the volume might have decreased, the same cannot be said for the quality and there remains a considerable number of high-quality, perfectly-matched solar systems being installed by installers in the UK, all of which should be nominated here.

Last year’s winner

While there was no category for an individual residential installation last year, the prestigious installer of the year award went to Solarsense, which impressed the judging panel for conducting its business to the highest possible standard. Joju Solar, a mainstay of the UK solar industry, was highly commended by the judges.
