Somerset-based renewable installer, Solarsense, has won the 2012 South West Green Energy Installer of the Year Award.
The award recognises the company’s continued commercial success as well as community engagement following various local initiatives that it ran over the year.
The company was praised by the judges for its strong commitment to the community. Solarsense recently installed a solar carport at its head offices that provides the Bristol area with free electricity for local EVs. The addition of the solar carport further boosts the company’s Backwell head office’s green credentials which now operates at zero-carbon.
The company will be hosting a series of open days at Solarsense’s Zero carbon Technology Park on November 30 and Saturday 1 following the success of its previous summer open day which saw the new mayor of Bristol, George Ferguson, join Glastonbury festival founder Michael Eavis to unveil the community solar carport.
The open days will help the public understand the renewable technologies the company has employed to enable the office to operate at zero carbon. Technologies on display will include solar photovoltaic and thermal panels, a biomass boiler and heat pumps.
Solarsense Director Steve Barrett said he was “thrilled” to have won the award.
