sPower and Camborne Capital have teamed up to acquire a 5MW solar project from developer China Sunergy Co.

The Higher Tregarne solar farm in Cornwall was connected to the grid in February 2014 and benefits from support under the 1.6 ROC regime.

Commenting on the acquisition, Declan Mackle, CEO of Camborne Energy Group, said: “By adding this operational asset to our growing portfolio, we are not only harnessing an immediate income stream but also further diversifying our exposure to contractors, components and geographies. Our ability to act quickly and commercially sets us apart from many other potential buyers in the market and enables us to capitalise on the opportunities available.”

Ryan Creamer, CEO of sPower echoed Mackle’s comments, stating that being able to move quickly was extremely important in the current market. He added: “We will continue to move quickly to make the most of the current supportive regulatory climate. The UK is a great place to do business, and it’s an exciting time to be involved in renewables in the country.”

Yolanda Qin, regional manager for EMEA project development at China Sunergy, said that the company was “proud to achieve another milestone” in the UK after the company was the first Chinese developer to fully invest, develop, construct, operate and receive accreditation for ground-based PV projects in the UK.
