BayWa r.e. has signed a deal to supply products to the distribution arm of SunGift Solar, which will now focus on the installation and consultancy activities of the business.

The new strategic partnership will see the German firm supply the customer base of SunGift Trade with a range of products while SunGift Solar will focus on the commercial and domestic installation markets.

Gabriel Wondrausch, managing director of SunGift Solar, added: “With SunGift’s unique experience within the renewable energy sector we have decided now is the right time to separate the two different areas of the business. We feel our distribution customers can be best served by a business dedicated to serving their requirements.

“We feel this is an extremely good partnership due to the shared ethos of the two businesses and the complementary product lines that will be beneficial to SunGift Trade customers”.

Ian Draisey, managing director of BayWa r.e.’s PV trade business in the UK, added: “I am simply delighted that we are able to work with SunGift in this way. We see this as a very positive step for all concerned. I am confident that we will be ideally positioned to carry on and advance the support and service that SunGift Trade has provided over the years to their customers”.

The two companies hope the deal will extend the offering to customers in the South West of England where SunGift Trade is based and strengthen both their positions in the market. Despite recent cuts to subsidy for new solar projects, they claim solar PV has become an essential part of the UK’s energy mix and therefore has a strong future in the UK.
