Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC)

The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) is a British government department created on 3 October 2008 by Prime Minister Gordon Brown to take over some of the functions of the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (energy) and Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (climate change). Act on CO2

Climate change is one of the greatest challenges facing the UK today, and ACT ON CO2 is a key part of the Government’s plan to help tackle the issue. The campaign communicates the seriousness of climate change to the public through TV, press, radio and online advertising, explaining the link between CO2 emissions and global warming. In addition, the website includes dozens of tips – from using energy saving light bulbs to driving five miles less a week – to help people reduce their carbon footprint.

Energy Savings Trust

The Energy Saving Trust is the UK's leading impartial organisation helping people to save energy and reduce carbon emissions.

They do this by:

  • Providing expert insight and knowledge about energy saving
  • Supporting people to take action
  • Helping local authorities and communities to save energy
  • Providing quality assurance for goods, services and installers.

Energy Savings' free, impartial advice and information service helps people across the UK to find the best ways to save energy, conserve water and reduce waste. The Trust directs people to the right grants to make change happen - from cavity walls to loft insulation, and help with installing renewable energy sources.

Renewable Energy Association (REA)

Ofgem

Ofgem is the Office of the Gas and Electricity Markets. Ofgem works to protect the interests of gas and electricity consumers, including their interest in the reduction of greenhouse gases and in the security of the supply of gas and electricity. Ofgem is governed by an Authority, consisting of non-executive and executive members and a non-executive chair. Non-executive members bring experience and expertise from a range of areas including industry, social policy, environmental work, finance and Europe.
