UK homeowners can now calculate the benefits of installing solar roofs by using a smartphone application. The solar yield calculator app, designed by Vario green energy Concept, is now available for Android smartphones as well as the iPhone.
The app calculates how much yield a photovoltaic installation would generate on a specific roof as well as tracking how much CO2 could be potentially saved. The results depend on the average annual solar radiation at the site, which is calculated by determining the location via GPS tracking.
The roof tilt and orientation are also able to be calculated by smartphone technology as the devices automatically detect these aspects when they are laid flat. Users also have the option to enter all data manually.
Other parameters, such as different modules, mounting systems and the efficiency and performance of the system can also be put into the system. These factors will then generate an initial assessment, with which plant properties he could get the highest yield. All the results are approximate values.
The program is available in English, German and Italian.
