Dimplex Renewables has debuted a new flat plate solar collector for the UK market ahead of the launch of the domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) in the Spring.

The SOL202 has been specifically designed for domestic installations by offering an increased efficiency which the company claims is achieved through the Harp configured, laser welded absorber and highly selective blue coating.

In addition, the collector is encased in a weatherproof aluminium frame with bonded 3.2mm solar safety glass, which the company claims offers 90% transmission to ensure a wide range of the solar spectrum is absorbed.

The SOL202 can be installed in either landscape of portrait orientation, with up to four panels installed in series. The collector is Solar Keymark approved and comes with a 10-year warranty.

Commenting on the product’s launch, Clare Campbell, product marketing manager for Dimplex Renewables, said: “With the RHI set to finally come into force this Spring, renewable energy will become an even more attractive option for homeowners who are getting increasingly frustrated with rising energy bills.

“The SOL202, together with the hydraulic packages, associated controls and cylinders already in our range, will provide renewables installers with a highly efficient solar thermal solution to tempt homeowners. Crucially, it is quick, easy and reliable to install too – potentially saving valuable time for installers.”
