Last week, Solar Power Portal revealed the shortlists for this year’s Solar Power Portal and Clean Energy Awards, sponsored by Trina Solar.

More than 60 projects have been shortlisted across 12 categories ahead of what promises to be a glittering occasion at Birmingham NEC’s Hilton Metropole, hosted by stand up comedian Jimmy Carr.

In the latest article of a series of shortlist spotlight features, here are the nominees for 2016’s Large-scale PV Project of the year.

  • PS Renewables – Eveley Solar Farm
  • British Solar Renewables – Swindon Solar Farm
  • Solar Advanced Systems – Ingarsby Lane
  • Lightsource – Queen Elizabeth II Floating Solar Array
  • Abundance Investments – Swindon Common Solar Farm
  • British Solar Renewables – Shotwick Solar Farm

PS Renewables acquired the project rights to the 49MW Eveley solar farm in 2015, acting as the project’s lead EPC. Primrose Solar financed its construction and took complete ownership of the project on 24 December 2015.

The site covers 68 hectares of what was predominantly low-grade farmland near Winchester, Hampshire. 186,000 panels were installed on the site, which was connected to the grid in March 2016 – prior to the 1.3 ROC deadline.

The site lies within one of the top areas for solar irradiation in the UK and is expected to generate enough electricity to power 15,000 average homes.

The winner of this year’s Commercial Energy Storage Project award will be announced at the awards ceremony on 5 October. Tickets are now available and can be purchased online here, or by contacting [email protected].
