Truro School in Cornwall now hosts one of the largest on-roof solar PV arrays installed in the country.

The 85kWp installations is located across both the school's gyrm and swimming pool roofs. The system is made up over 330 ReneSolar modules combined with Power One Aurora inverters.

It is expected that the solar installations will significantly reduce the school's annual electricity consumption as well as slashing its carbon footprint.

The system was installed by the Renewable Energy Co-operative, an installation company that is part of Co-operatives UK. This year, 2012, has been named as the International Year of Co-operatives. As such, their has been a concerted effort to to boost the GDP from the co-operative sector from 2 percent to 20 percent.

Abe Cambridge, Technical Director of the company commented: “As a co-operative we abide by the co-op principles that emphasises the importance of working in the education sector. R-ECO has now installed over a quarter of a MW on schools alone and we hope to do many more!”
