Goldbeck Solar, the Germany-based commercial solar provider, has completed a 515kWp rooftop system for the Weidenhammer Packaging Group in Bradford. Featuring 2,2021 Yingli photovoltaics modules, the Group’s manufacturing building now features a system installed by Athos Solar, reinforcing the company’s environmental policy regarding sustainability, the society, its employees and the business sectors in which it operates.

Investing a total of £1.25 million, the newly-constructed manufacturing plant at Royds Hall Lane, Buttershaw now features 2,021 individual solar panels alongside 28 inverters. The system is expected to produce an output of KVA 515, which equates to 50% of the power requirement of the manufacturing operation, saving a minimum of 9,402 tons of CO2 over its 25-year lifetime.

When not being used by the factory the surplus electricity will be fed for general supply into the National Grid.

A Goldbeck spokesperson said, “The construction tasks were phased to align with progress of the building itself. For example, we installed the brackets, waited for the rooftop to be complete, then began with panel installation.”

The system, which also utilizes the Goldbeck developed substructure, took approximately 20 days to install.
