The Princess Royal Sports Arena in Boston, Lincolnshire has just seen the installation of a 96kWp Solar PV System by Louth based Renewable Energy company Scenergy Limited.

The leisure complex first opened in October 2003 and provides premier health spa facilities, extensive sport facilities and recreational activities for the local community. It is operated by management company 1 Life.

By installing the solar panels to the roof of the building, Boston Borough Council, who own the complex, hope to not only reduce the carbon footprint of the building, but also to use income generated to pay for on-going repairs and maintenance of the building over future years. The system is also expected to significantly reduce the electricity bills of the site and provide an element of protection against rising electricity prices.

Scenergy Limited won the contract to install the system following a competitive tender exercise ran by Boston Borough Council.
