German solar manufacturer, Azur Solar’s independent electricity system, Azur Independa, has been awarded the prestigious Plus X Award for “Best Product of the Year 2012” and “Most Innovative Brand of Year 2012.”
The international Plus X Award has recognised the most innovative technological, sports and lifestyle products over the last nine years. This year, the televised Plus X Award ceremony took place in Cologne on May 10. Over one hundred of top decision-makers from 26 different industries joined numerous celebrities from the worlds of politics, media and society to honour the 25 most innovative brands of the year and six specialty trade brands of the year, among them international brands like AEG, BlackBerry, Opel and HUF Haus.
“It was an honour to be named and recognised alongside many esteemed companies in this prestigious international annual award for our efforts and contribution. We will continue our programme of innovation in the field of alternative energies,” stated Christian Bouda, the new MD at Slough-based AZUR Solar, a leading manufacturer, distributor and installer of solar PV solutions.
Azur Solar’s Independa technology utilises a high-performance battery to create an intelligent, independent electricity system. The German solar manufacturer hopes its battery solution will help home owners become truly energy independent from conventional energy sources; Azur batteries are capable of storing the produced power from a renewable energy source so it can be consumed on demand, mitigating the intermittent output nature of renewable microgeneration. The Azur Independa system is also capable of feeding any excess electricity back into the national grid when usage is low. Azur Independa is currently available in Germany and will be available for purchase in the UK in late 2012/early 2012.
