A number of companies engaged within the UK’s renewables sector have made the Financial Times’ list of the fastest growing companies in Europe.

The FT1000 list compiles the 1,000 fastest growing companies in Europe by comparing their respective revenue growth and compound annual growth rates (CAGR) over the three-year period spanning 2012 to 2015.

Energy company Anesco was ranked 397th on the list having achieved a CAGR of 57% over the three years, recording turnover of more than £291 million in 2015.

Steve Shine, executive chairman at Anesco, said the company was thrilled by its accolade.

“Our ongoing success is down to the great team of people we have pulled together, who are all passionate about what they do. It is their hard work and enthusiasm that continues to see us breaking new ground at every turn. We’re proud that while others are talking, we are acting and helping our customers transform their energy use and efficiency,” he said.

German battery manufacturer Sonnen meanwhile was ranked 218th after a meteoric rise over the three years. Its revenue soared by 567% in that time, reflecting a CAGR of 88.2% as turnover hit £26 million in 2015.

Other companies named in the FT1000 include solar developer SMP Montage (ranked 405th), which has worked with the likes of Solarcentury, Push Energy and Ib Vogt in the construction of UK solar assets, and Spanish PV tracker company Soltec, which was ranked 147th.

The list’s publication comes just a week after fresh data from the Office of National Statistics revealed that the contribution of green industries to the UK economy reached £43.1 billion in 2015, down marginally on the £44.2 billion it contributed the year before.
