The Solar Trade Association (STA) is calling on Twitter users to put pressure on the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) to address the domestic-scale renewable heat market.

The movement has been sparked after Stuart Elmes, Chair of the STA Thermal Working Group, chastised DECC for the repeated RHI delays on his personal blog.

In the blog, Elmes suggests a number of steps that DECC could take in order to restore market confidence, including:

  • Increasing the Renewable Heat Premium Payment (RHPP)
  • Complete and unambiguous announcement of RHI tariffs

Update: Greg Barker has responded to the STA's #TweetforHeat with the following tweet:

The acknowledgement from the minister that the RHI ideas proposed are under 'serious consideration' and that there will be more news shortly will be a major boon for the renewable heat industry. However, it remains to be seen to what extent, if any, Stuart Elmes' suggestions will be adopted by the Department of Energy and Cliamte Change.
