Sunrise Eggs' distribution centre in Loughborough has undergone a solar makeover thanks to local installer Salop Energy Ltd.
Solar PV distributor SunConnex has announced that it supplied a 200kW system to Salop Energy Ltd to help power Sunrise Eggs’ main packing and distribution depot.
The system consists of 800 Yingli 250W panels located on the depot’s South East-facing elevation. Salop Energy estimates that the 200kWp array will generate 160,000kWh of electricity every year, helping Sunrise Eggs slash around £32,000 off its annual utility costs.
Commenting on the install, Gareth Jehu, director at Salop Energy said: “Although the design was initially straightforward, our client had concerns regarding temperature within the building on which the solar modules were to be mounted.
“We ensured that we accounted for this in our design, specifying a bespoke mounting system to alleviate any potential effect the modules may have had.”
Jehu added: “Monitoring is an imperative ingredient for any PV system, but on an investment of this magnitude, clients quite rightly expect their system to be policed 24/7, 365 days of the year. Our company prides itself on the level of back-up service and aftercare provided and it appears that this was exactly what Sunrise Eggs was also looking for”.
