A new oak-framed solar carport has launched in the UK. My Solar Port is designed to provide a solution for those homes that either can’t install solar on the roof or would prefer to have a less visible installation.

My Solar Port combines a 3.04kWp array with a traditionally crafted timber frame. Housed inside the carport is a charging point for electric vehicles (EVs), allowing EV owners to charge their cars using nothing but the energy from the sun.

Director, Darren Morgan explained: “We understand that many homeowners can't or don't want to install solar panels on the roof of their home but would like to live a more sustainable lifestyle, and avoid rising fuel costs.”

Morgan added: “By offering traditional oak frames and bespoke designs, we provide a beautiful alternative, which is sympathetic to rural architecture, making solar energy accessible to everyone.'

The carport’s green oak frame houses a roof integrated solar array. The company estimates that the 3.04kWp array is capable of providing up to two thirds of the annual energy requirement of a typical three bedroom house. The carport’s EV plug point can also be used to charge a whole range of electrical appliances, including hot tubs.

Importantly, the bespoke nature of the item means that each structure can be designed to the system owner’s requirements. Prices for the systems start from £11,499.
