Aberla Energy has been selected as specialist energy contractor for the Progress Housing Group, signing a three-year solar contact.
The company, part of the North West-based Aberla Group, will provide solar PV maintenance and installation services to homes in Progress’s portfolio across Lancashire and Lincolnshire. It was awarded the contract following a mini-competition run by Procure Plus.
Paul McCarren, chief executive officer at Aberla, said that it was encouraging to see an organisation such as Progress Housing invest in solar PV “as the cost of renewable technologies continues to fall”.
“Residents will benefit from powering their homes with cleaner and cheaper energy, reducing their dependence on fossil fuels and energy generated from the grid.”
The project is set to start in Spring 2021, and is due to be completed by October 2023. Progress Housing is a UK based supported living provider, and owns and manages over 10,000 homes across the country.
Mark Harrington, compliance mechanical & electrical manager at Progress Housing, said: “Our focus as an organisation is to improve the quality of housing for our residents, and this project allows us to do exactly that. We were impressed with Aberla Energy’s experience and look forward to working with them.”
The contract helps strengthen Aberla’s growing portfolio of public sector work, the company said. It recently completed the delivery of over 100 solar PV and battery storage systems for Cheshire West and Chester Council, a contract signed back in 2019.
