Solar designer and installer Absolute Solar and Wind has recently expanded its UK team by appointing Alex McDonald as the New Business Director.

Working as part of the senior management team, McDonald will ensure Absolute Solar and Wind delivers its strategy to expand the company’s commercial and public sector client base across Scotland. His role will also include building strategic links across the renewables sector to enable the company to deliver energy solutions to customers using a wide variety of green technologies.

Before joining Absolute Solar and Wind, McDonald worked with several large outsourcing organisations carrying out operational and business development roles in the construction, service delivery and facility management sectors.

Speaking about his appointment McDonald said: “Absolute Solar and Wind is a forward thinking company that, despite the tough economic climate, has pushed forward with its ambitious expansion objectives in 2012 and is already seeing the results.

“With my extensive experience in the tender process and strategic bid management, I believe I be able to share my expertise with the team and help Absolute Solar and Wind move forward even more quickly. This role is a new challenge for me and I am looking forward to getting started.”

Absolute Solar and Wind Chairman, Tony Kent, said: “It is a pleasure to welcome Alex on board, his vast experience in the public sector will be vital as we continue to expand the business.

“We have a very clear plan in place to become the number one installer of solar panel and renewable energy systems UK wide. Alex is another valuable addition to the team and we look forward to him starting with us in July.”

Headquartered in Glasgow Absolute Solar and Wind has also opened new offices in Aberdeen, Inverness and Livingston during 2012.
