Reading-based renewable energy company, Anesco, has appointed Steve Shine OBE as its Chairman. Shine will be standing down from his current role as Chief Operating Officer at Thames Water at the end of March 2012 and will join Anesco as Chairman from April.
Shine was awarded an OBE in 2010 for services to energy and the water industry and in his role as Chief Operating Officer at Thames Water oversaw responsibility for vital support functions, including carbon management.
Shine said: “I’m looking forward to working with the team at Anesco as it enters the next stage of its development. It provides a strong service and product offering, and continues to grow at an impressive rate.”
Shine will joins Anesco as it enters a second stage of rapid growth. The firm has recruited over 80 people in the last six months, with plans to hit 300 by the end of 2012.
Anesco’s Chief Executive, Adrian Pike, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Steve to the team. The work he has done on carbon management and his experience within the electricity, construction and water industry provides us with a unique set of industry skills and contacts.
“When people talk energy efficiency, they generally look at power and fuel however water recycling and heat recovery are equally significant and Steve brings this knowledge and experience of all these different things.”
