A Barnsley charity is to establish a 22.5kWp solar photovoltaic (PV) system on its roof top with the help of a local installer this September.

Commencing late this month, the work at Independent Training Services on Park Road, Barnsley will involve the installation of 90 Solar panels by Eco-Power Solutions.

Based in Barnsley, the company will use inverters from the SMA Tri and TL range as the array will be split onto three of the site’s south facing roof tops. The system will use 90 X Suntech 250W WD+ Black Pearl Modules and hold the potential to generate over 20,000kWh of electrical energy each year.

The system will not only provide the charity with a payment of over £8,500 from the government’s feed-in tariff (FiT) but will also reduce an estimated 10 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year.

The system will be remotely monitored by Eco-Power Solutions who will also install a live web link – allowing members of the public to see how the system is performing in real-time.

Mark Roberts, Managing Director at Eco-Power Solutions said: “We are delighted that Independent Training Services have chosen Eco-Power, a local company to carry out their project. We are looking forward to finally working with a local charity.”
