Bluefield Renewable Developments has received planning permissions for a 49.9MW solar farm, co-located with a 60MW battery energy storage system (BESS).

Located on a former open cast coal mining site in Bedlington, near the renewable energy developers 49.9MW Burnt House solar farm, the Broadway House Farm will be the company’s third solar project in Northumberland.

Bluefield received approval for the Low Horton Farm in Blyth, Northumberland, last year.

Councillor Hogg said that Northumberland County Council especially supported the environmental gain and increased biodiversity offered in the farm’s plans, including planting trees.

“This application also provides much-needed reductions in the town’s overall carbon footprint,” added the Councillor.

In October 2023, Bluefield Solar Income Fund (BSIF), a member of the Bluefield Group, announced it had seen its renewable generation production increase by 22% year-on-year (YoY) to 836GWh.
