The south coast town of Bordon in East Hampshire has recently been unveiled as the UK’s latest ‘eco-town’ and is currently embarking upon a number of green initiatives. One such initiative has seen Bordon Junior School install a photovoltaic energy roof system a part of a ‘grand eco scheme’.

Roofing specialists IKO PLC oversaw the transformation of the roof, liaising with Salnor Roofing Services and OCB Energy to install the 6.120kWp solar system, which spans 114.3m2. The roof area to which the Solar F system was installed was of a lightweight construction, meaning a traditional ballasted crystalline photovoltaic system was not feasible due to excessive loading.
