Clean Solar Solutions (CSS) has landed a contract to conduct panel cleaning and ground maintenance works for energy giant Centrica.
Under the scope of works, CSS will conduct panel cleaning and maintenance services for more than 30 ground-mount and rooftop solar sites owned by water utilities.
Speaking to Solar Power Portal Steve Williams, managing director at CSS, said the value of the contract was around £100,000 and was awarded on the back of a relationship between the two firms that extended back to 2013.
“We have always had a good working relationship with Centrica and these works were planned back in September 2017. Their planning in advance has helped them secure prime dates for cleaning and avoid the bottleneck that we see coming for solar panel cleaning in Q2 of this year.”
Williams added that his firm was aiming to “maintain our focus on quality above cost”, citing an ongoing “price war” in the solar O&M sector.
Kevin Bryan, O&M manager at Centrica, said the company was happy to tap into CSS’ experience and knowledge to provide its clients with “an advanced approach” to O&M.
“Centrica aims to provide an excellent O&M providing for the market. We intend to work in this space for many years and securing O&M contracts for large water utilities sites gets our year off to a good start,” he added.
Clean Solar Solutions was named O&M Provider of the Year at last year’s Solar Power Portal Awards. Nominations for this year’s ceremony are now open, with the O&M Provider of the Year category returning. More details on this year’s awards and how to enter are available here.
