Conrad Energy has announced that construction has started on its first solar farm – the 45MW Larport site.

The announcement follows Conrad Energy gaining planning approval for the site in May 2022.

Based in Herefordshire, Larport solar farm spans 120 acres with an extensive part of land said to be dedicated to biodiversity enhancement.

The EPC contractor Ethical Power has already commenced preliminary works, with its civils arm (Ethical Power utilities) already on site.

Conrad Energy secured a offtake agreement for the renewable energy generated at Larport through a PPA with BNP Paribas, announced last month.

The site is expected to be commissioned in 2024, generating approximately 44,000MWh per year.

“Our partnership with Conrad Energy has spanned multiple areas over the years but the project in Herefordshire is our first solar PV build for them. We are very excited about delivering this exceptional project,” said Neil Buck, managing director of Ethical Power Ltd.

George Hall, project manager for the site added: “Conrad Energy are very pleased to be working with Ethical Power on this project, and it builds on the long-term relationship between the two companies. We are very excited to see work start on this flagship project.”
