Yorkshire-based Greenbuy Energy has announced a new scheme that could see local residents benefit from huge savings on their energy bills.

From May 1 until the end of March 2013, the Renewable Heat Premium Payment (RHPP) will provide grants of up to £1,250 for the cost of installing renewable technologies at home. The RHPP will provide vouchers of a value of £950 for purchasing a biomass boiler, between £850 and £1,250 for a heat pump and £300 for solar thermal.

People taking advantage of the RHPP will also be able to claim payments from the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) that is due to be rolled out early next year. The government initiative precedes next year’s RHI which will pay members of the public for generating heat in a similar way to the current solar PV feed-in tariffs.

Greenbuy Energy, which installs renewable energy technologies in households and businesses across the region, is offering to match the RHPP pound for pound during the whole of May.

Russell Paul, Business Partner at the company, which recently opened a showroom in Doncaster town centre, said: “Renewable energy is an investment, and there has never been a better time to make the first steps towards greater efficiency and lower bills.

“People taking advantage of the RHPP now will save more money and get a better return on investment than if they decide to wait. The grants to buy renewable technologies and payments for producing heat will mean that adopters will make massive savings, especially as fuel prices continue to soar.

“Greenbuy Energy can install all the renewable technologies that come under the RHPP, and we have decided to match the scheme so that more people can save themselves money.

“We are delighted to be able to help the people of South Yorkshire reduce their emissions and generate heat in a more environmentally responsible way that will also ease pressure during tough economic times.

“We have already had huge interest in solar thermal, which we expect will continue.”
