Ecolution Energy Services has launched a solar PV performance guarantee for Housing Associations.
The company will guarantee that their solar PV systems will perform at 90% of its predicted output. If the arrays does not achieve its 90% target, Ecolution will refund the difference between the projected feed-in tariff income and what was actually collected.
Under the performance guarantee, Ecolution will monitor all the PV systems in order to ensure systems are performing at their optimum. A simple monitoring device can be fitted to each house retroactively, allowing Ecolution’s PV team to remotely assess the health and performance of the systems every day.
Richard Jenkins, Ecolution’s managing director, said: “As PV systems are a unique electrical component within the house, generating significant lifecycle revenue, the maintenance approach to these systems should be considered differently to other repair and maintenance regimes traditionally associated with electrical items.
“We have come across PV systems that have been out of action for weeks without tenants or the Housing Associations knowing. In that time, FiT revenue is lost and the tenants will lose out on a significant amount of free electricity.
“Ecolution has developed the Performance Guarantee service for Housing Associations because we firmly believe that no other company has the expertise to keep PV systems fully-monitored and operational all year round for the tariff we offer. Specialist skills are required to observe and interpret the systems’ performance. We have expert staff doing that on a daily basis to make sure that each Housing Association’s initial investment in a PV system is safe. This daily monitoring also means that any theft or safety issues are highlighted immediately.”
Ecolution has initially launched its performance guarantee to Housing Associations in London and the South but will be extending the launch to other regions in time.
